Phota Your Mota for Recognition and Rewards

As you know I love taking pictures of cars, I’m also lucky enough to get paid for it. Surrounding myself with camera equipment and automobiles is what makes me happy on a daily basis.

What also makes me happy is seeing up and coming photographers that share my passion. I’ve reached a point where I’m secure enough in my work not to feel threatened by these talented photographers, now I just sit back and admire the work they do.

One way I’m doing exactly that this month is judging in the Phota Your Mota competition. This contest launched by MoneySupermarket.com is a perfect excuse to get some of my own snaps showcased while championing talent that’s caught my eye.

The image I’ve chosen is of the Bentley Continental GT – I took this on location in Spain in and around Valencia. The images were commissioned for the global launch of the GT, which was a very important one for Bentley, being their first new model for many years. The shoot car was a prototype reputed to have cost around GBP 1.5 million – the only one in existence at the time and was a total departure from Bentleys traditional styling.

I really liked this car because of its flowing lines, awesome engine and luxurious interior. A Grand Tourer in the true sense – a machine that could transport you from continent to continent at incredible speed and in real style and comfort.

I like this image because of the graphic nature of the composition. The Bentley looks majestic in the scene although it is not large in frame. It also allows the background to be appreciated while not taking over the scene. There are no quirky Photoshop gimmicks, just a clean, simple, graphic shot.
