It’s been a hectic week, made even more exciting by the launch of two cars coinciding.
The first, is a new Formula E racing car, fast as greased lightning while being powered by electricity. Yep, you heard me right.
This new Formula E Amlin Aguri fully electric car is set to turn preconceptions of electric cars on their heads, as it really does show that eco-friendly doesn’t compromise power. I myself, as you know, have never really had the scope to go green with an automobile, as by definition, the fastest cars are usually the best juice guzzlers. Living in the country, kind of, I do champion it though, so when a speedy car that is easy on the eco conscience joins the road, I can’t help but look a little closer.
At first, like with the Mitsu PHEV, I thought, “no tax, no fuel, it’s a mobility scooter” then over the past months, I’ve been proved wrong! This latest kick in my eco suspicious brain, basically throws every doubt I had about electric cars out of the window. If it’s good enough for FormulaE…
So, without giving you a link to Greenpeace or writing a blog on how to recycle those pesky little plastic window envelopes, I’ll let you in on the shoot at Donington.
The car is launched just in time for the new FormulaE Championships – in just a few months, these will be zipping round the race tracks stopping in the pits to change cars before zooming off again.
In all seriousness, it’s actually going a step further and stepping away from racetracks to bring electric Formula to the people. These will be speeding around city streets, around famous landmarks and in local neighbourhoods, so you won’t need a ticket to watch from the sidelines.
The Amlin Aguri Team has now signed a driver who has a rich history of excellence behind her, current DeltaWing Indie driver Katherine Legge.
The car’s principal sponsor is global insurance firm, Amlin which is reflected in the chrome blue livery with splashes of orange too!
