SandRaiders ’23 Morocco – an epic trip with epic people – legendary mechanics, support crew, medics and riders.

7 stages of adrenaline 1500km in 40 degrees+ 

Marrakech – Taroudant –  Tissint –  M’hamid – Chegaga – Zagora – Merzouga – Erfoud

The first time I came to Morocco was in the late 1990s with LandRover, shooting images for brochures as was back in the day. 

2000 sheets of 5×4 film, 250 rolls of 120, and 100 rolls of 35mm. 

Two weeks later, all shot and only a handful of Polaroids to calm the client and CD’s nerves.

More recently shot ad campaigns for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, a road trip from UK down through France, Portugal & Spain with ad agency Golley Slater, and just pre-pandemic Zovirax press ads with Saatchi & Saatchi… but riding the Sahara with SandRaiders was another level, a truly visceral feeling.

If you are unfamiliar with SandRaiders, it’s a retro Dakar-style motorcycle raid across the Sahara, a brilliantly crazy experience…

Now to prep a new/old bike for the next adventure…
