Last night Channel 5’s ‘The Gadget Show’ was on air, which we filmed a couple of weeks back with Jon Bentley and his team. A very good time was had by all, mixing up a couple of my favourite topics – cars and cameras.
You probably already know ‘The Gadget Show’ – my kids never miss it – but for the uninitiated, it is a weekly Channel 5 programme which reviews all the latest tech & gizmos.
In this episode, Jon and myself compare the merits of two standard ‘entry level’ cameras and respective lenses – the mirrorless Sony A6000 and the Nikon D5500 DSLR, putting the cameras through their paces in various situations, from a rig shot, to low level light, tracking and portraits.
We filmed deep in the stunning Worcestershire countryside at Shelsley Walsh , the oldest Hill Climb in the UK, with equally stunning cars expertly handled by historic racing driver Martin Stretton of Stretton Racing. Martin brought along a couple of fantastic cars – the classic 1964 AC Cobra and a Porsche 911 2.7 RS replica, which he gave a brisk spin or two up and down the hill for the cameras!
